Among the leather options you can find the Chrome Excel Leather from the Horween Tannery in Maine, United States.
It is a unique process, made since the early Twentieth Century. It is a tanned leather that undergoes at least 89 separate processes and requires 28 days of processing to the tannery that produces it.
A process that requires slight variations to each batch to have a homogeneus final result, because each leather is unique in itself.
The riches are derived from the bark of trees, the dyes are derived from natural pigments and it is all mixed and applied using heat, steam, pressure, hands and time.
As for the suede leather options, we have selected Kudu, an animal from the antelope family.
African tribes have formed a deep bond with the animals they depend on them for food, clothing, and even materials for ritual and artistic expressions
These tribes mantain the idea of balance and equality between man and animal to ensure the absence of waste and sustainable relationship with nature.
Kudu leather has been used in Africa for about 2000 years for the production of footwear due to its durable nature.
During its life in the wild nature, kudu regularly graze among the trees and thorny plants of the african scrub, which leave scratches and scars on their skin that make each skin unique. The most notable feature of Kudu's leather is that it is soft, with an incredible tensile strenght
We could not fail to give you as an option the Vacchetta Leather typical of our Tuscany.
Vacchetta is a leather obtained from vegetable tanning, an ancient process with which it's possible to obtain an unique material with inimitable characteristics.
Vegetable tanning is characterized by tannins, which are obtained in nature mainly from flowers and bark of trees.
Vacchetta takes on its famous characteristics during the retanning phase, in which fattening is added to the leather. The peculiarity of Vacchetta is its ability to change over time. We can say that Vacchetta products never age, they only change in appareance, in fact they often darken over time. This is due to the reaction that is created between sunlight and tanning substances. This means that Vacchetta products are "personalized" because the final result of their appearence depends on the use that each person makes of them.
Then we have the Reverse Leather of the Opera Tannery in Santa Croce sull'Arno, leathers of the highest quality, processed with care.
For this line of customizable shoes we decided to use Vibram soles. They are the first soles made with vulcanized rubber, born with a process devised by Charle Goodyear.
Sulfur and elastomer are added to the rubber to make it resistant to wear, temperature and traction.
An idea behind the tires that also adapt well to the soles.
Shoes with this kind of soles can least for decades. In addiction to the material, their tank structure also manages to grip any surface and in all wheather conditions.
